Hi, thank you for stopping by. I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, from India ten years ago. My upbringing taught me to live frugally, making every cent count. As a student and now as a professional, I’ve managed to keep costs low. Our blog shares financial insights and frugal living tips learned along the way. Our goal, as a Canadian Financial Blog, is to build a library of resources that Canadians and New Immigrants can use to enhance and empower their own personal finance journey.  I currently work remotely as an Analyst in a 9 to 5 job but am determined to become work-optional in the next 10 years (2032).

I rented a room in the dorm of another university for under $500 a month with a common kitchen and common amenities. Coming to Canada at the age of 26 meant I had saved some money in my previous life to cover most of my tuition. I did, however, have to work multiple jobs to make up for my living expenses and I graduated with low to no student debt in 2016.

I moved to Toronto and lived frugally in a basement apartment, paying less than $900 a month for four years. This savings strategy greatly benefited me when my wife and I bought our primary residence in 2020. We are now Dual Income with a Kid. We continue to live our Frugal Life but have knowingly started to let some lifestyle creep seep in. This is taking vacations and enrolling our child in a fairly expensive daycare.

Our Accomplishments 🙂

Through frugality and keeping discipline, we have been to accomplish the following feats:

  • Purchase our Primary Residence in which we have built equity of over $250K through market appreciation and mortgage prepayments.
  • Achieved a Liquid Net Worth of $100K in less than four years since combining our finances.
  • Achieved $1,600 in Dividend income in three years since starting investing.
  • Buying our Used car in Cash (I love this one !)

You will see us post Net Worth updates here as well as on our Instagram account. Note that we started late, we are currently in our 30’s. We are Gen Zero immigrants who came from little but we are determined to live a great life. To build and leave generational wealth along the way is our our goal and hopefully, our legacy. Thank you for visiting our Canadian Financial Blog !
